FY2017 Program Schedule

October Program October 11, 2017 - 12:00 PM

2017 Ohio Building Code Update

At its May 26, 2017 public meeting, the Ohio Board of Building Standards (BBS) adopted of what will be the next edition of the Ohio Building Code (OBC) (hereafter referred to as the 2017 OBC). The 2017 edition of the OBC will go into effect on November 1, 2017. All applications for a permit submitted on or after November 1, 2017 will be reviewed for compliance with the new OBC and its referenced standards. THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD.

Join CSI for this informative program as we review key highlights about the overall changes that have been made between the 2011 Ohio Building Code (OBC) and the 2017 OBC, and the reasons for the changes with emphasis on chapters 1-11.

We will review key highlights of the changes that affect the occupancy, fire protection, type of construction, and means of egress.  We will also briefly overview the revisions to Chapter 11 of the 2017 OBC for accessibility including coordination with ANSI A117.1 and the 2010 ADA standard for design.

After this session, we hope that you will have a basic understanding of how the changes will affect your projects and designs.
