Tour of Cincinnati’s Revitalized Music Hall

Go backstage and beyond with a tour through private and public spaces in the recently revitalized Music Hall.

Built in 1878, Music Hall was designed by acclaimed architect Samuel Hannaford, and in many ways, it served as the city’s Convention Center up through the late 1960’s.  Today, Music Hall remains one of the most adaptable historic concert venues in the world.

Despite being comprised of three separate buildings that are seemingly under one roof, Music Hall is best known for its central portion: The Springer Auditorium. The resident companies, which include the Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras, and May Festival continue to perform at Music Hall.

The scope of the Music Hall renovation project was to restore the heritage of this world-class facility for performers and audiences alike, significantly enhance acoustics of auditorium and overall audience experience, improve accessibility & modernize facilities to make them state-of-the-art, economize operational and back of house needs and uses, and execute lasting structural improvements required to secure building longevity.

Project manager 3CDC, working with MHRC (Music Hall Revitalization Company) and the resident organizations, went through a rigorous due diligence process to ensure the undertaking had the right team behind it in place. The design team included:

Join us for this exciting tour of the recently renovated Music Hall as we see how it reflects the spirit of both past and present and discover why it was the envy of the Great Midwest in the 19th century and the cornerstone of the 21st century renaissance of Cincinnati's historic heart.

BRING YOUR SPOUSE.  This program is not only of interest to our construction industry members, but also speaks to guests of a wide range in ages and interests. If you have a particular interest in history, music, theater, architecture or Cincinnati culture, this will be a real treat! Guest fees apply.

We will be joined by Andreas Lange, AIA, LEED AP with Perfido Weiskopf Wagstaff + Goettel, lead architect for the comprehensive exterior and interior restoration of this 225,000 sf National Register landmark.

We will meet at the main entrance box office.

After the tour, we will walk a block north to Zula Restaurant & Wine Bar for food and refreshment (included with program cost).  Zula is a modern, relaxed restaurant located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati. They feature an extensive wine list, a unique and eclectic menu, and a location in the heart of a burgeoning arts district. .
